2020 Buick Envision: Changes, Specs, Price

The 2020 Buick Envision is another mid-sized five-seat crossover SUV that one can choose among premium names like the Audi Q5, Mercedes GLC, Acura RDX, etc. The Envision is a stylish, well-equipped, high-riding model available with the turbocharged powertrain and modern tech and comfort features. Buick introduced the all-new Envision for the 2016 model year and expanded the range of options a year after. The 2019 version benefited from the restyled front and rear fascias, upgraded 2.0-liter engine and new 9-speed automatic transmission.

The 2020 Buick Envision will, however, remain unchanged. It will again offer five trim options including the base version, Preferred, Essence, Premium, and Premium II. The powertrain range will repeat two four-cylinder units including a turbocharged version and two transmission choices. There will also be a dilemma between front- and all-wheel-drive setup.

2020 Buick Envision: Design

The Buick Envision gets attention with its fluid exterior styling which was updated for the 2019 model year. The model received restyled front fascia and new taillights which made it look more expressive. The grille is a familiar brand’s design with a winged stripe running across it and coming combined with the angular headlights.

The 2020 Envision is also attractive from the profile perspective thanks to the defined fender flares and strong character line. The rear side is also rich with sharp angles and shapes and has also modern looking taillights. The tailgate-mounted spoiler and nicely fitted rear bumper also improve the model’s rearview.

The 2020 Buick Envision won’t bring any notable styling upgrade and there shouldn’t be significant changes until the next redesign.

Interior, Equipment:

The interior of the model will also stay the same for the new model year. The Envision uses simpler design inside the cabin than from outside. It has a curvy dash design with a driver-focused arrangement and some contrasting elements.

The seats are firm and supportive and power and heating functions are available from the base version. The base 2020 Buick Envision provides also fog lights combined with xenon headlights, dual-zone auto climate control, keyless entry and ignition, a hands-free liftgate, etc.  The tech features included in the base version are an 8-inch touchscreen-based infotainment system with Apple Car Play and Android Auto support, Wi-Fi hotspot, six speakers, satellite radio, rear parking sensors, etc.

Switching to the Preferred trim brings more options such as a power moonroof and an all-wheel drive. The Essence version lifts the stake with the leather upholstery, tri-zone climate control, heated rear seats and steering wheel, memory functions as well as blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.

The equipment list of the Premium trim includes LED headlights, 19-inch wheels, Bose premium sound system, a bigger driver information display and more safety systems such as lane departure warning, forward collision alert, and front parking sensors.

The top-grade Premium II version upgrades with a head-up display, automatic parking system, navigation, and ventilated front seats among other improvements. This version allows also modern safety systems such as adaptive cruise control and automatic braking.

2020 Buick Envision: Powertrains, MPG

The 2020 Buick Envision will continue to rely on the same engine options.

The base Envision will get power from the 2.5-liter inline-4 engine paired with the six-speed automatic transmission. This engine provides 197 horsepower and 192 lb-ft of torque. The front-wheel-drive is standard on the base trim and the Preferred and Essence trims will allow all-wheel drive.

The Premium and Premium II versions switch to the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine with the standard all-wheel-drive system. This turbo-equipped unit delivers 252 horsepower and a peak torque of 295 pound-feet. This engine is coupled with a 9-speed automatic transmission.

Equipped with the base unit and front-wheel drive, the 2020 Envision should return 22 mpg city and 29 highways. The all-wheel-drive reduces these figures to 21 mpg city and 27 mpg highway. The turbocharged engine and 9-speed automatic transmission will provide 20 mpg city and 25 mpg highway.
