Audi’s subcompact Q3 crossover SUV enters the third model year since the 2019 redesign and the 2021 Audi Q3 is expected to comes with no meaningful changes. The four-ring brand will do some changes in the equipment availability and add a few new options such as fresh color and wheel patters while reports don’t promise any significant mechanical change or upgrade.
The small Audi Q3 crossover SUV is stylish inside and out and packed with modern tech features. The cabin uses high-quality materials and it is well-insulated from the outside noise. The ride quality is great and punchy while the turbo-4 engine delivers sufficient power but falls to provide good fuel economy.
The Audi Q3 is the brand’s representative in the class where are the BMW X1, Infiniti QX30, Mercedes GLA and Volvo XC40.
2021 Audi Q3: Design
The second-generation Audi Q3 arrived for the 2019 model year based on the brand’s widespread, lightweight MQB architecture while its styling gets inspiration from the stylish Audi Q8. The result is an aesthetically pleasant model thanks to the nicely sculpted sheetmetal and a prominent grille. The model wears a large octagonal grille flanked by the sharp LED headlights.
A dynamic character line adds also to morel’s aesthetics when seen from the profile while the rear has also a nicely shaped sheemetal and attractive taillights.
The 2021 Audi Q3 will return with the same visual identity while there should be new color and wheel options. The model will start with the 18-inch alloy wheels in the base version while the range-topping Q3 will roll on the 20-inch units.
Interior, Equipment:
The new model year won’t bring any significant upgrade inside the next Q3’s cabin either.
The model has a quiet cabin treated with fine materials and modern tech. The upper grades switch to finer materials at extra cost. The controls are user-friendly and modern systems are available from the base version. The Q3 has also well-positioned driver’s seat and the seats are also well-shaped and supportive. There are also optional, leather sports seats.
The Q3 provides up to 48 cubic feet for the cargo with the rear seats folded. With the rear row functional, there are 18.7 cubes of the cargo room.
At the equipment level, the 2021 Audi Q3 will start generously with the heated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery, 10 speakers, an 8.8-inch MMI infotainment system with Apple Car Play and Android Auto, a 10.3-inch digital instrument cluster, etc. The base safety measurements include forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking. Additional safety is available including adaptive cruise control, blind-spot detection, lane departure warning, and surround-view cameras.
The mid-grade version adds keyless entry and ignition, parking sensors, a hands-free tailgate, aluminum trim inserts, ambient lighting including options such as 15-speaker Bang and Olufsen sound system.
The range-topping gets attention with sportier exterior and interior touches, Alcantara cabin, 20-inch wheels among other features.
2021 Audi Q3: Powertrain, Efficiency
There are no signs that the next 2021 Audi Q3 would change something related to its mechanics. There are no reports about the possible introduction of the electrified powertrain option either.
The model should return with the single-engine option in the equipment list. A potent 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine makes 228 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque in the current version and that shouldn’t change for the new model year. The engine is mixed with the smooth 8-speed automatic transmission which sends the power to the standard all-wheel-drive system.
The engine can send the Q3 to 60 mph in 7 seconds. The fuel economy stands at 19 mpg city, 27 highway and 22 combined according to EPA testing. With most classmates rated in the mid-20s combined, the Q3 is near the class bottom in this respect.
While it isn’t impressive at the efficiency level, the Q3 is very comfortable and responsive while riding. Its well-tuned suspension and precise steering keep it in the track in all driving modes and conditions.
2021 Audi Q3: Release, Price
The 2021 Audi Q3 should arrive by the year’s end. The price could get an uptick across the model’s range despite the lack of significant upgrades. The current version starts from $34, 700 and goes over $40,000 when equipped with most features.
The refreshed Q3 is expected for the 2022 season when it should appear with the revised exterior and interior features and additional powertrain options.
