2021 Cadillac XT4: Changes, Equipment, Price

With the compact-sized XT4 model in the lineup, Cadillac offers an alternative to some high-ranking nameplates like the BMW X3, Audi Q5, and Mercedes GLC. The smallest Cadillac SUV is quiet and refined while driving but it’s also comfortable and equipped with the responsive infotainment system. The XT4 gets also attention with expressive styling and comes well-equipped from the entry-level version. The model debuted for the 2019 model year while the 2020 version expanded the availability of some safety features. The 2021 Cadillac XT4 isn’t also expected to bring any significant upgrades which should appear with the facelifted 2022 version.

The 2021 XT4 should get additional standard equipment and upgraded tech features. Cadillac will offer new color and wheel options. There are no signs that a new powertrain option will be introduced which is more likely to coincide with the model’s mid-cycle update.

2021 Cadillac XT4: Design

The compact Cadillac XT4 employs GM’s E2XX platform that is also the base of the models such as the Chevy Malibu and Opel Insignia. The model benefits also from the brand’s newest design language. The sleek, shield-shaped grille and blade-style headlights that enter deep to the fenders’ area define the front-end look of the model. It has also the sculpted bumper area and the hood.

The model looks also attractive from the side perspective thanks to the sharp character and sleek roofline. The rear section is also nicely designed and sculpted tailgate, nicely integrated rear bumper and vertical taillights fit well to model’s identity.

The 2021 Cadillac XT4 will keep all styling elements in the same form but there should be new wheel and body color options at the disposal. The model will offer various wheel styles with the size up to 20 inches.

Interior, equipment:

The cabin of the XT4 is stylish and functional. The dynamic dash design is attractive and controls are easy to recognize and use. The model gets also high scores for seat comfort and cargo capacity. The smallest Cadillac SUV provides above-average cargo capacity and there are up to 49 cubic feet of cargo space.

The XT4 has also a responsive and easy to operate infotainment system that should get updated software and features for the 2021 model year. Every model will come with Apple Car Play and Android Auto as well as Wi-Fi connectivity. Navigation will remain optional as well as a Bose sound system while the base version comes with seven speakers. Additional tech features will include digital instrument cluster, head-up display and wireless charging.

The 2021 Cadillac XT4 won’t also lack driver-assist systems. The model should offer more standard safety systems for the new model year. The model will include standard blind-spot monitoring but should also get updated automatic emergency braking. Available will also be adaptive cruise control and active lane control.

The base version will come with the syntactic leather upholstery while upper grades will switch to the leather surfaces combined with wood and carbon fiber-like finishes. The Sport trim will include specific seats, steering wheel and trim accents.

2021 Cadillac XT4: Performance, MPG

The Cadillac XT4 is a candidate for some form of electrification but as the things now stand, the electrified powertrain shouldn’t be the part of the next version’s equipment list.

The 2021 Cadillac XT4 should return with the familiar turbocharged engine under the hood and the same performance. A 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder unit delivers 237 hp and torque of 258 lb-ft. The engine operates combined with a quick 9-speed automatic transmission. By default, the engine sends power to the front wheels while buyers can also get the model with the brand’s twin-clutch all-wheel-drive system.

The model will also be available with the adaptive dampers for a more controlled ride and sharper handling.

At the efficiency level, the turbo-4 engine combined with the front-wheel drive should achieve 24 mpg city and 30 highway or 26 combined which is slightly lower than BMW and Volvo models deliver. The four-wheel-drive version manages 22 mpg city and 29 highways according to EPA testing.

2021 Cadillac XT4: Release, Price
