2021 Cadillac XT6: Changes, Equipment, Price

Cadillac introduced the mid-size XT6 crossover SUV last year to offer a nimbler and more comfortable three-row alternative to the truck-based, full-size Escalade. The 2020 version is available in two versions including the Sport variant equipped with the adaptive suspension. The next 2021 Cadillac XT6 returns on the roads with the same handsome styling and engine under the hood while there will be some changes in the equipment availability and possibly a new trim option.

The three-row Cadillac XT6 has a luxurious cabin and practical rear seating. The cargo capacity pays dividends to an adult-friendly third row. The XT6 is well-equipped from the start and active safety systems are standard.  The model has plenty of power at disposal while it isn’t very efficient.

The last year marketed Cadillac XT6 is the brand’s alternative to some well-known names such as the Audi Q7, BMW X5, Volvo XC90 and Mercedes GLE.

2021 Cadillac XT6: Design

The mid-size Cadillac XT6 uses GM’s wide-spread C1XX platform which is the base of the Buick Enclave, Chevy Traverse, GMC Acadia, etc. The XT6 and GMC Acadia sit on the shorter wheelbase while the Traverse and Enclave are riding on the stretched wheelbase. The model measures 198.8 inches in length while the wheelbase is 112.7 inches long.

From the visual point of view, the three-row XT6 is an embodiment of the brand’s newest design language. The model applies styling cues from the sleek Escala concept car. The mid-size Cadillac SUV has a similar, shield-shaped, mesh grille as the smaller XT4 mixed with the slender headlights and vertical LED DRLs. The front bumper features sport style and sharp angles and character line contributes also to the model’s modern look.

The next 2021 Cadillac XT6 will keep the current form until the mid-cycle update. Buyers will have new color and wheel options to choose from. Some reports suggest a possible inclusion of the new trim option with unique styling details.

Interior, Equipment:

The cabin of the 2021 Cadillac XT6 will also stay identical to the current form. The new trim should come with unique trim inserts and premium comfort features as the reports claim.

The Cadillac XT6 has a roomy third row and comes treated with premium materials. The model has also responsive and easy to use infotainment system.

The cargo capacity is up to 78.7 cubic feet with the middle and rear rows folded. With all seats up, the cargo room is 12.6 cubic feet.

The XT6 comes with the real leather and wood in the Premium Luxury variant while the Sport trim uses the mix of leather and carbon fiber. The models get an 8-inch touchscreen and come with the rotary controller like the smaller XT4.

Every XT4 comes with an array of active safety systems including automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, parking sensors and blind-spot monitoring. The XT6 offers also an optional Nigh Vision with infrared detection of pedestrians and animals.

The XT6 gets also wireless charging, premium Bose sound system, heated steering wheel and seats, a sunroof, a hands-free tailgate, navigation and much more.

2021 Cadillac XT6: Performance

The 2021 Cadillac XT6 should return with the same engine under the hood. A 3.6-liter non-turbo V-6 is good for 310 hp and torque of 271 lb-ft. It can deactivate two cylinders to save some fuel. The engine works in the combination with a smooth 9-speed automatic transmission. The Sport trim is the all-wheel drive only. The Premium Luxury trim offers both the front- and all-wheel drive.

The Cadillac Xt6 comes with the struts up front and five-link setup at the rear. The Sport version gets an adaptive suspension and recalibrated steering for sportier driving feel.

When it comes to fuel economy, EPA rates the front-wheel-drive XT6 at 18 mpg city, 25 highway and 20 combined. The all-wheel-drive equipped XT6 returns 17 mpg city, 24 highway and 20 mpg combined.

2021 Cadillac XT6: Release, Price

Cadillac hasn’t yet revealed the price of the upcoming 2021 Cadillac XT6. The price range should stay close to the current. The model should be available from about $53, 000.

Cadillac hasn’t also said when the next XT6 will go on sale and whether the corona pandemic would affect its arrival. The models should reach dealers late in the year.
