Nissan’s premium sub-brand Infiniti presented several concepts recently hinting the direction brand will follow in the future. The most recent Infiniti QS inspiration Concept previews the next Q50 and Q70 sedans and with the presentation of this concept model Infiniti confirmed its faith in this eroding market. However, Infiniti is also aware of the ever-growing popularity of the SUVs and several high-riding models should appear fully redesigned in the near future. The Infiniti QX Inspiration Concept was presented early this year and this model gives also the glimpse into the brand’s future. Among the redesigned SUVs, the 2021 Infiniti QX60 should be one.

The current, first-generation Infiniti QX60 arrived for 2014 and this Pathfinder-based model provides a comfortable ride while it comes well-equipped in all versions. The QX60 offers three rows of seating and standard active safety equipment while gets the power from the V-6 engine.

The details about the new-generation QX60 are scarce and the prototype version hasn’t yet been spotted on the roads. Some sources claim that new-generation will debut for the 2022 model year. In any case, the new version is expected to get more expressive styling and a more sophisticated interior. The power should come from the new turbocharged engine and electrified versions are also expected.

There are no many details about the 2021 Infiniti QX60 and the prototype version hasn’t yet been caught on the road to give us insight into the model’s new design. The lack of the prototype could mean that all-new QX60 will come as the 2022 version but many sources claim the debut as the 2021 model.

In any case, the redesigned QX60 should come on the upgraded platform shared with the new-generation Nissan Pathfinder. The new design should provide several benefits including improved structural rigidity and weight savings. The upgraded platform will also allow the integration of the electrified powertrains and modern technologies.

Styling-wise, the redesigned QX60 should adopt some cues from the most recent concepts and the brand’s newest models. The result should be more expressive styling than on the current version. The model should get sleeker grille version and slimmer, modern headlights. The shaping of the sheet metal should also be more dynamic. Some sources also claim that new QX60 will be larger.

Interior, Equipment:

The cabin of the all-new QX60 should also undergo a deep modernization. The model should come with the new dash design and redesigned center stack with less physical controls and larger main touchscreen. The new infotainment system will also be installed with improved responsiveness and new features. There should be a much larger center touchscreen option which became the trend in the industry. The model will also offer a digitalized instrument cluster.

The redesigned QX60 will also provide a long list of the standard equipment. There will be automatic climate control, keyless entry and ignition, a sunroof, power liftgate, heated front seats and more in the base version. The new QX60 will also come with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring and other active safety systems available from the entry-level model. The model will also come with attractive wood and metallic trim accents.

The 2021 Infiniti QX60 will again prioritize the ride comfort and luxury. The upgraded platform and powertrain should also provide improved efficiency and performance.

Infiniti hasn’t yet revealed what powertrain options the new QX60 will use but there should be an innovative, turbocharged engine with variable compression. An innovative design of the engine should provide about 30 percent improved fuel efficiency without sacrificing performance. The model could even adopt a four-cylinder engine with power around 270 hp and torque of 280 pound-feet. The power should be transferred through the continuously variable transmission. There will be both front- and all-wheel drive options.

The new-generation should also get the electrified powertrain options possibly the all-electric variant.

The current QX60 relies on the 3.5-liter V-6 combined with the CVT. The power this engine delivers 295 hp and torque of 270 pound-feet.

Infiniti hasn’t yet confirmed when the second-generation QX60 will debut. Some sources claim that the 2022 version will be all-new while there are reports about the redesigned 2021 Infiniti QX60. More details will be known when the first prototype appears on the road.

If the redesigned QX60 hits the market as the 2021 version, the model should go on sale in the last quarter of 2020. The price range should start from the mid-40,000s.
