Jeep’s entry-level crossover SUV, the Renegade has plenty of character backed up by the decent off-road capability. The small Jeep SUV possess also agile handling and plenty of easy-to-use technology features. The model was all-new for the 2015 model year and Jeep updated its styling, interior and feature availability for the 2019 season.  The 2020 versions expanded the availability of some options and features to the lower grades alongside the power upgrade of the 1.3-liter engine. As the things now stand the 2021 Jeep Renegade should stay in the current generation but introduce a new powertrain option and several new features.

The upcoming Renegade will get the plug-in hybrid version under the 4xe badge and with specific exterior and interior details. The rest of the model’s range should return with minimal changes in the equipment availability and with a few updated features. There won’t be notable styling or in-cab upgrades as the reports indicate.

Following the update for the 2019 season, the 2021 Jeep Renegade isn’t expected to comes with any significant structural of visual change.

The Renegade has a strong, old-school personality thanks to its angular, Wrangler-influenced styling. The model is easily recognizable thanks to its boxy lines, tall profile and Jeep-specific styling elements.  Jeep’s signature up-right, seven-slot grille is flanked by the round headlights. The model has also trapezoidal fender flares and a tall roofline. Each trim gets also specific accents and wheels design.

For the new model year, the Renegade returns in the same form with several new color and wheel options. The plug-in hybrid version comes also with almost identical styling as the conventionally powered versions except for several specific details. The Renegade PHEV gets blue body accents mixed with the unique wheels and appropriate badging.

Interior:

The in-cab of design of the next 2021 Jeep Renegade will also stay the same. The model will get several new material patterns and tech updates. The PHEV version will also poeses several specific trim details.

The Renegade has a roomy cabin considering its size. A tall roofline provides also plenty of the headroom. The cargo capacity is just 18.5 cubic feet with the all seats up. With the rear seats folded, the model offers 50.8 cubic feet for the cargo.

The cabin of the model is available in the light and dark theme and optional leather upholstery. The off-road-ready Trailhawk uses specific cloth upholstery with red accents.

Equipment:

The 2021 Jeep Renegade will offers a broad range of customization options. The base variant goes on sale with the 16-inch steel wheels, heated mirrors, a tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, six speakers, air conditioning, a 5-inch touchscreen, etc. The base trim gets optionally dual-zone climate control, a 7-inch display, satellite radio, etc.

The mid-range models include upgraded cloth upholstery, 18-inch alloy wheels, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, etc.

The Trailhawk gets upgraded off-road hardware, a raised suspension, knobby tires, red tow hooks, etc.

The Limited version switches to the leather upholstery, automatic wipers, upgraded driver instrument panel, etc.

The model can also be had with an 8.4-inch touchscreen, navigation and advanced safety systems such as adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, parking assist, a blind spot monitoring, forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking.

2021 Jeep Renegade: Powertrains

The 2021 Jeep Renegade will again offer the non-turbo and turbo four-cylinder engine options. The 9-speed automatic transmission will be standard on all versions. The front-wheel drive is also standard except on the Trailhawk version which gets the all-wheel drive by default.

The base 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine makes 180 hp and torque of 175 lb-ft. Buyers can alternatively get a 1.3-liter turbo-4 engine good for 177 hp and torque of 210 lb-ft.

The new PHEV version combines a 1.3-liter turbo-4 engine with an electric motor and an 11.4-kWh battery pack. The PHEV model is the all-wheel-drive by default with the turbo-4 engine responsible for the front axle while electric motor powers the rear axle. The system delivers 190 hp and torque of 199 lb-ft. A pure-electric range is 31 miles.

2021 Jeep Renegade: Release, Price

The 2021 Jeep Renegade will go sale late in the year. The price of the non-electrified versions should stay close to the current range. The PHEV variant will demand about $10,000 more than the non-hybrid version. The base version should start at about $23, 000.
