2021 Peugeot 4008: News, Design, Price

Peugeot will further expand its growing crossover SUV range in 2020 and the new model that should appear is a stylish 2021 Peugeot 4008. Inspired by the rapid success of the coupe-style SUVs from the industry-leading brands, Peugeot will add a more stylish and sportier high-riding model to its line-up.

The new model should be a coupe-like derivative of the successful Peugeot 3008 and should be marketed under the 4008 nomenclature as the reports claim. The sportier Peugeot SUV will share the underpinning and drivetrains with the 3008 and the same should be with the in-cab design. The model should offer a range of powertrain options including diesel and plug-in hybrid variants. It will also adopt the brand’s latest tech and safety features.

2021 Peugeot 4008: Design

As the reports claim, Peugeot won’t build the new 2021 Peugeot 4008 from scratch. It will use the PSA’s latest EMP2 modular platform which is the base of the 3008 and 5008 models. The modern design platform uses high strength steel mixed with aluminum, magnesium alloy and composite materials to get a lightweight but rigid and durable structure. It also allows the implementation of modern tech and powertrain solutions. In the case of the new 4008, the platform should be tweaked further to provide a more engaging drive. The new model will get a unique suspension setup to achieve that.

From the styling perspective, the new 2021 Peugeot 4008 SUV will build on the styling of the 3008 and 5008 models with curvier and more stylish design. The model will also get a number of unique styling elements. The front section should come with the brand’s signature but more aggressive grille design. There will also be angular headlights with blade-shaped LED accents. A sport-style front bumper and the sculpted hood will round the front-end design.

The profile will get attention with defined character line, sloping roofline and there will be reduced glass area.

The rear section should mix the stylish full-width taillights with the sculpted tailgate and sport-style rear bumper. The model will also go on sale with attractive wheels design.

Interior, Equipment:

Peugeot won’t reinvent the wheel when it comes to the in-cab design as the reports claim. The coupe-style 2021 Peugeot 4008 will use the same interior design as the 3008 model but will add a few sports touches. The model will adopt a lower driving position and come with sportier seats.

The brand’s innovative cockpit design with a high-placed main display and instrument cluster and sport steering wheel will also be used.

The Peugeot 4008 should offer a decent five-seat comfort despite the fast sloping roofline. The model will mix innovative i-Cockpit design with great-quality materials and attractive trim inserts. The 4008 will also equip modern safety gear that will be available from the base version. Every variant will get automatic emergency braking while systems such as adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist and blind-spot detection should be offered in the optional package.

2021 Peugeot 4008: Powertrains

Like the current 3008 model, the upcoming 2021 Peugeot 4008 should go on sale with a range of powertrain options.

The model should make the use of the three-cylinder turbocharged Pure Tech petrol engine. The diesel range should include 1.6-liter and 2.0-liter BlueHDI units. An additional option should be a 1.6-liter THP engine sourced from the DS 7 Crossback.

The model won’t also skip the electrified powertrains. There should be two plug-in setups on offer. One making around 240 hp will combine a 1.6-liter THP engine with the single electric motor placed in the front section. The same 1.6-liter THP engine but mixed with two electric motors providing around 300 hp and all-wheel drive will be the second PHEV setup.

The 4008 will also rely on the tweaked platform and suspension setup to provide a more engaging drive.

2021 Peugeot 4008: Release, Price

The new, coupe-style 2021 Peugeot 4008 should go on sale in 2020 but it’s not clear yet would the ongoing pandemic push the debut of the model beyond 2020. Peugeot hasn’t commented on that matter. The price is also a mystery. The price range should start in low to mid £30, 000 in the UK.

The stylish, coupe-style Peugeot 4008 will be an alternative to similar models from the premium German brands.
