2021 Porsche Macan: Design, New Generation, Relase

The agile and refined Porsche Macan is among the best choices in the premium compact league of the high-riding models. The Macan has become the instant success and it is now by far the best-selling Porsche. The smallest Porsche has plenty of power in all versions despite four- or six-cylinder turbo engine is under the hood. A fast-operating seven-speed gearbox and perfectly calibrated suspension are also the part of the high-performance mix but Porsche equips also its most-affordable model with modern and premium, comfort and tech goodies.

The Macan received recently some styling and performance upgrades and Porsche upgraded also the infotainment system with larger center display and new navigation. The current, first-generation Macan debuted for 2015 and after a recent refresh, there won’t be major upgrades until the next-generation version. The 2021 Porsche Macan will stay mostly unchanged and we should expect just some modifications in the equipment availability.

New-generation Macan:

On the other hand, the second generation Macan will change the course radically and become an all-electric model as Porsche announced. Porsche expects that 50 percent of sales for the brand could come from the electric-powered models by 2022 and claims that electrification fits perfectly with the high-efficiency and performance which are some of the brand’s priorities. The second generation, all-electric Macan should debut in 2021 and hit the market as the 2022 version. The time will tell would this be a too radical step for the brand and we will see how it will affect the sales of the brand’s most popular model. The good news is that Porsche won’t switch to the all-electric approach without the transitional period and both conventionally-powered and electric models will be sold side by side for some time.

2021 Porsche Macan: Design

Porsche is known for its signature styling and its models haven’t changed their appearance radically over time. The 2021 Porsche Macan will return with the same styling while the brand will likely offer new color options and wheel designs.

The first generation Macan is based on the widely-spread MLB platform and looks to much extent like the shrunken Cayenne. The model has the rounded edges common for every Porsche and familiar grille and headlights shape.

The new generation Macan is also expected to come with evolutionary styling charges. The model will, however, switch to the new platform called Premium Platform Electric architecture co-developed with Audi.

Interior, Equipment:

Porsche won’t also make radical changes inside the cabin of the best-selling Macan. The model will return with the same dash layout and familiar material combinations. Porsche impresses with the quality of materials and execution and Macan is no exception.

The model has a well-design dash with a large center display like in the newest Cayenne and Panamera. The infotainment interface is responsive and intuitive and model also comes with voice recognition, navigation, HD radio and at least ten speakers in every version.

There will also be partial leather upholstery, automatic climate control, power front seats and more in the base version. Upper grades will lift the price and refinement to the new levels with upgraded leather upholstery, more tech and sports features.

The model will also use modern safety systems like automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, surround-vison cameras, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, etc.

2021 Porsche Macan: Performance

The 2021 Porsche Macan will again rely on the familiar engine options used also in other brand’s models.

The base Macan will get around 250 hp and torque of 273 pound-feet from the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. A more potent 3.0-liter turbo V-6 engine will deliver 348 hp and torque of 354 pound-feet in the S version. A 2.9-liter twin-turbo V-6 will provide the next-level performance with 435 hp at disposal in the Turbo version.

The model will also use a fast-shifting seven-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel-drive system. A precision and responsive steering combined with the standard self-leveling multimode shocks will also provide unprecedented ride control and handling.

As for the new-generation, all-electric Macan, the model should use an 800-volt electric system which should ensure a fast-charging capability with more than 200 miles of range added in just around 15 minutes. The duo of electric motors should be responsible for powering each axle while getting electricity form the high-capacity battery. The electric propulsion will provide instant acceleration with the potential to generate around 600 hp.
