2022 Hyundai Santa Fe: News, Performance, Equipment, Price

Following the recent, extensive, mid-cycle upgrade the 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe isn’t expected to come with significant upgrades. There is a possibility that a plug-in hybrid option joins the recently revised powertrain range but there are no many details about that yet. The model will repeat three current powertrain solutions and it returns with the same styling and in-cab design. The Santa Fe could also gain a new trim option for the 2022 season and additional standard and optional features.

Based on its proportions the Hyundai Santa Fe slots between the compact and mid-size classes. The model is an alternative to the names such as the Nissan Murano, Kia Sorento, Honda Passport, Chevy Blazer, and Jeep Grand Cherokee. The Santa Fe delivers an efficient, smooth and comfortable ride. The model has also a high-quality and functional cabin. Hyundai equips also the model with a long list of standard and optional features.

The fourth-generation Santa FE arrived for the 2019 season as the replacement for the previous Santa FE Sport. The three-row, long-wheelbase Santa Fe is replaced with the all-new Palisade as the 2020 model. The Santa Fe received an extensive mid-cycle update for the 2021 model year with significant styling, in-cab a and powertrain upgrades.

The 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe goes on sale a year after the facelift and it comes without visible upgrades. The new model year will just bring additional color and wheel options.

The recent refresh brought a new cascade grille version with the integrated LED headlights and new accent T-shaped lighting units sitting below the hood line. The new grille is wider and it replaced the previous shield-shaped version. The last mid-cycle update added also reworked front bumper.

The profile of the model has similar paneling as the recently all-new three-row Palisade. The rear benefits also from the new taillights installed for the last update.

The top-grade Santa Fe will come with the unique 20-wheels and specific grille style.

Interior, Equipment:

The 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe will continue to live on the recent in-cab and equipment upgrades.

The recent upgrade brought larger standard and optional center display as well as a Palisade inspired center console design. The model benefits also from a better packing and additional cargo capacity thanks to the recent refresh. The cargo room with the rear seats folded measures 71.5 cubic feet.

At the equipment level, the Santa Fe starts with an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple Car Playa and Android Auto. The base equipment includes also automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection. More safety equipment comes as an option including blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, active lane control, etc.

For extra money buyers can also get a larger 10.3-inch center display, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless charging, a premium sound system and more. The Santa Fe can also be had with the premium leather upholstery, premium sound system, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats and heated steering wheel.

2022 Hyundai Santa Fe: Performance

The refreshed 2021 Sant Fe introduced three new powertrains including a more efficient hybrid option while combustion engines provide improved power ratings. The 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe will continue to exploit these powertrains while it’s not clear when the plug-in hybrid version will join the range.

The powertrain includes a 2.5-liter inline-4 engine mixed with the 8-speed automatic transmission and either front- or all-wheel drive. The engine makes 191 hp and torque of 182 lb-ft. This unit replaced recently a 2.4-liter engine good for 185 hp. In the application with the the front-wheel-drive it should return 26 mpg combined.

The next-level performance will provide a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with the dual-clutch 8-speed automatic transmission. The engine is good for 277 hp and 311 lb-ft of torque. With this engine under the hood, the model should score up to 25 mpg combined.

Buyers can also opt for the hybrid version. The model packs a 1.6-liter turbocharged inline-4 engine, a 13-kW starter generator and a 44-kW electric motor. The combined output is 225 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque. The system is an all-wheel drive and should reach up to 35 mpg combined.
