The forthcoming 2022 Kia Soul continues with the updates. Soul is a small crossover SUV and it is also a very affordable model. However, Kia Soul offers a surprisingly spacious interior, a comfortable ride, and great handling. Kia provides a lot of modern features, so we think its price starts surprisingly low. The 2020MY arrived with a redesign, so the new Kia Soul won’t deliver major updates.
Still, mid-cycle refreshments are about to happen, which is great to hear. Both the exterior and interior will gain nice and important updates, but nothing will change under the hood. The Soul crossover is available with two engine options, like the outgoing model. The sales will begin this summer.
2022 Soul Facelift
New 2022 Kia Soul remains a boxy model with compact dimensions. We think the Soul crossover looks adorable and very modern. The goal is to make this model more competitive so Kia will deliver some sort of mid-cycle facelift. Some parts are already looking attractive, especially the front fascia with the famous “tiger nose” treatment.
The 2022 Soul comes with a slightly wider grille, sharper lines, bolder bumpers, and possibly new exterior colors. The styling is distinctive, but its boxy shape is still an issue, as many customers would like to see a floating roof. That won’t happen, but some other updates are in the works and we are waiting for Kia to reveal more details.
Interior Updates
The interior of the 2022 Kia Soul is about to gain further updates. Again, nothing dramatic will change, but the latest updates are more than important. Soul crossover provides a surprisingly spacious interior, given its size. And while the cabin is made for five passengers, four occupants are recommended. The cabin is comfortable and very modern. Kia provides standard cloth upholstery and optional synthetic leather.
This model continues to offer a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen and the infotainment system is up to date. The base trim level comes with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, a six-speaker sound system, navigation, and Bluetooth. The upper trim levels are available with a larger 10.25-inch screen, additional USB ports, new driver-assistance aids, and Harmon Kardon audio system.
Kia Soul Offers Two Engine Choices
From what we know, the 2022 Kia Soul will continue to offer two powertrain options. This small crossover comes with a standard 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. It is a gasoline unit with 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque.
The front-wheel-drive system comes as standard, along with the variable transmission. Moreover, even the 6-speed manual gearbox is on offer. Optionally, you can get a 1.6-liter turbo-four engine with 201 horsepower. The optional engine also develops 195 lb-ft of torque and it offers a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
2022 Kia Soul Price, Release Date
The 2022 Kia Soul remains an affordable crossover, that starts at around $19,000. The range-topping trim level will cost $29,000. On top of that, the electric Soul EV variant is available for above $30,000. The sales will begin this summer and the Soul model will once again rival Hyundai Kona, Mazda CX-3, and Nissan Kicks models.
