2022 Nissan Murano: News, Specs, Price

Nissan’s mid-size, design-focused Murano has been on sale without a full redesign since 2015. The model arrived with the restyled front fascia more standard and optional features and new material options for the 2019 model year. The 2021 version goes on sale with no significant upgrades. On the other hand, there are contradicting reports about the 2022 Nissan Murano and possible changes.

While multiple sources suggest possible arrival of the all-new 2022 Murano, Nissan hasn’t shown any sign that would suggest an introduction of the redesigned Murano for the 2022 season. The brand was spotted testing a new-generation Pathfinder that comes as the 2022 model but there are no signs of the Murano prototype yet. The current Pathfinder generation was initialized for 2013 and it is currently a higher priority model than the stylish Murano.

So, as the things now stand, the 2022 Murano should return with a limited number of modifications while the all-new version is more likely for the 2023 season following the redesign of the Nissan Pathfinder.

2022 Nissan Murano: Design

The mid-size Murano gets attention with its striking appearance but its design shows signs of obsolesce. However, based on what we know so far, the 2022 Nissan Murano should not arrive as the new-generation version.

The mid-size Murano received new headlights and front-fascia update for the 2019 season and will continue to live on these upgrades for another model year. The model mixes the V-motion grille with boomerang-style headlights. The front section includes also a dynamic-style front bumper and creased hood.

The model’s expressive styling approach continues on the profile side where it gets attention with dynamic sculpting and floating roofline.

The rear is elegant and modern-looking despite years on the roads without the redesign. The rear section mixes attractive boomerang-style taillights with nicely integrated bumper and contrasting accents.

Interior, Equipment:

The cabin of the 2022 Nissan Murano should also enter a new model year with no significant changes. The model could receive an upgraded infotainment system and additional standard and optional features.

The Murano has a unique interior design backed up by high-quality materials. The model employs high-comfort Zero-gravity seats and provides adequate room in all rows. The cargo capacity is up to 67 cubic feet.

The base Murano comes with manually adjustable seats, an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple Car Play and Android Auto, cloth upholstery, etc. The base version should come with an expanded safety list in addition to the current offer where automatic emergency braking is standard.

The mid-range models will add power-adjustable front seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel, surround-view cameras, roof rails, upgraded upholstery, etc.

The top-grade Murano will raise the stake with the ventilated seats, premium leather upholstery with diamond pattern, premium sound system, etc.

2022 Nissan Murano: Powertrain

All signals point toward the conclusion that the 2022 Nissan Murano should continue to exploit the same powertrain and return without structural upgrades.

The Murano should return with a 3.5-liter V-6 engine under the hood. The engine is good for 260 hp and torque of 240 lb-ft. The model will again offer two- and all-wheel drive options across the range. In every application, the model comes with a continuously variable transmission.

The fuel economy should also stay close to the current ratings. The two-wheel-drive Murano should score 20 mpg city and 28 highway and the similar should be with the all-wheel-drive configuration.

Nissan offered the Murano Hybrid for the single model year. The new-generation version should arrive on the upgraded platform and slightly larger and with an alternative hybrid powertrain. The redesigned model should also benefit from the weight-saving upgrades.

2022 Nissan Murano: Release, Price

The 2022 Nissan Murano should go sale in late 2021 with no radical price changes. The current Murano starts from about $32, 000. The top-grade Platinum version should be available at about $43,000.

The Murano competes with newer models such as the Honda Passport, Ford Edge, Hyundai Santa Fe, etc. The alternatives list includes also Jeep Grand Cherokee, Honda Pilot, Infiniti QX60, Chevy Equinox and others that should also switch to the new generation in the coming model years.   The all-new Murano should follow after the arrival of the redesigned Nissan Pathfinder likely for the 2023 season or even for 2024.
