2022 Nissan Pathfinder: Redesign, Price

Nissan continues its work on the entire SUV range and after the introduction of several redesigned models, the next in line for the full redesign is the large Pathfinder. Following the induction of the all-new Nissan Juke, global Qashqai and compact Nissan Rogue, the brand has the focus on the new-generation 2022 Nissan Pathfinder.

The Nissan Pathfinder was spotted in the prototype form suggesting an arrival of the radically new version. Based on the spy phots and what we know so far, the next Pathfinder should hit the market with the dramatically new styling influenced by the newest Rogue. The model could keep the same V-6 engine displacement with possible induction of the four-cylinder and hybrid options at some point.

The new Pathfinder is also expected with a reworked cabin again inspired by the design of the brand’s newest SUVs.  The model will also get the brand’s latest tech and safety advancements.

2022 Nissan Pathfinder: Design

The current, fourth-generation Pathfinder arrived for 2013 based on the Nissan D platform and it has been on sale without notable upgrades. As the spy photos and available info suggest the fifth-generation 2022 Nissan Pathfinder should hit the market with radical styling and some structural upgrades.

It’s not clear yet what platform the new version is testing on. There are two possible outcomes in that regard. The redesigned Pathfinder could stick to the current D platform for one more generation. The Nissan D platform underpins also the current Murano and Infiniti QX60 and with some upgrades could be a solution for the next Pathfinder for its fifth generation. The next-iteration Pathfinder could also switch to the Common Module Family specifically D version platform for the mid-size and large crossover SUV models. If that would be the case, the Pathfinder would benefit from significant weight reduction.

Form the visual standpoint, the all-new Pathfinder seems to have a similar footprint as the current version but radical styling change is obvious as seen from the spy photos. The model should adopt a similar design language as the newest Rogue with the brand’s new styling elements and more angular body sculpting.

The front section of the model should get the brand’s new 3D V-motion grille version similar to that of the redesigned Rogue. The new grille style will come in the combination with the split LED headlight setup.

The profile of the model will be more upright and with more sculpted side panels in contrast to the current softer paneling.

Interior, Equipment:

The in-cab design of the new 2022 Nissan Pathfinder should also get inspiration for the recently all-new Rogue. The model will also get the brand’s new infotainment and safety technologies available with premium comfort features in the top grades.

The new Pathfinder is expected with the increased interior refinement and a long list of comfort upgrades. The model will come with superb-comfort Zero Gravity seats in front and rear. The top-grade Platinum version will also add a perforated leather upholstery.

The redesigned Pathfinder will also go on sale with the brand’s newest infotainment system with Apple Car Play and Android Auto. Every version will come with at least an 8-inch touchscreen. The range-topping version should come with a larger 9-inch center display. The model will also be available with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a large head-up display.

Every Pathfinder will also rely on standard Safety Shield 360 suite with systems such as forward collision warning, front and rear automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning and blind-spot monitoring. All trims above the base should also get the ProPilot Assist system.

2022 Nissan Pathfinder: Powertrains

When it comes to the possible powertrain solutions, the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder should return with the same V-6 engine displacement as the current version. The current Pathfinder employs a 3.5-liter V-6 good for 284 hp and torque of 259 lb-ft. The engine will again be in the combination with a continuously variable transmission.

The model will again offer both two- and all-wheel drive setups.

At some point, the fifth-generation Nissan Pathfinder should also get a 4-cylinder powertrain option as well as a hybrid version.

2022 Nissan Pathfinder: Release, Price

The redesigned 2022 Nissan Pathfinder should appear in the first half of 2021 with the on-sale date later in the year. The price range should have a higher starting point than the current version.
