The upcoming 2023 GMC Hummer SUV is about to enter the production. After the GMC Hummer EV truck, General Motors will focus on building a premium all-electric SUV. GM already teased us during the conference where the electrification plans have been presented. The Hummer SUV should arrive with two- and three-motor setup. The price won’t be affordable, but it will be an impressive model with so much to offer.
Logically, most of the styling cues and mechanical components will be taken from the Hummer EV truck. And just like the truck variant, the SUV will also introduce cheaper models, along with models with more luxury and impressive performances. The sales will begin later in 2022 or in early 2023. Here’s everything we know about this SUV so far.
2023 Hummer SUV Exterior and Interior Details
New 2023 GMC Hummer SUV looks similar to the truck that debuted last year. However, the SUV is shorter and has a spare tire placed on the rear like a Jeep Wrangler or the new Ford Bronco. The Edition 1 model has 22-inch wheels and comes with side stairs and floor liners. Every Hummer EV comes equipped with GM’s Super Cruise hands-free driving system. As we said, many features and styling cues are taken from the Hummer EV truck variant. That includes a somewhat vertical windscreen and shorter overhangs.
The LED headlamps that cover the width of the vehicle, on the other hand, plainly identify this SUV as a unique model. On the inside, we expect to see a lot of tech, futuristic layout and high level of comfort. The goal is to deliver easy-to-use features and ultimate driving experience. Moreover, Hummer SUV will introduce removable roof panels, like the Jeep Wrangler. All of this luxury, however, will undoubtedly come at a cost, so we don’t expect an affordable price.
Impressive Off-Road Package
Except for the basic model, each 2023 GMC Hummer SUV comes with an extreme off-road package. It comes with impressive 18-inch wheels with 35-inch mud-terrain tires and skid plates. On top of that, this package adds rock sliders, a front electronically locking differential. The rear motors can electronically simulate a locked differential, which is great to hear.
This kit also provides heavy duty half-shafts, and underbody cameras. GMC has not revealed price of the package, but the Hummer SUV Edition will surely introduce Crab Walk. This impressive feature employs four-wheel steering to align all of the wheels at the same angle.
Driving Range, Power
To this day, GM isn’t saying that much about the 2023 GMC Hummer SUV and its performances. However, like the Hummer EV truck, this SUV will feature similar or even the same configuration. This means the SUV variant will also provide up to 830 horsepower. Cheaper models will provide slightly above 600 horses, which is still more than enough. Reportedly, the Hummer SUV will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in three seconds flat. GM promised 11,500 lb-ft of torque, although the torque numbers are clearly misleading. As for the driving range, this model will provide at least 280 miles on a single charge.
2023 GMC Hummer SUV Price, Release Date
The forthcoming 2023 GMC Hummer SUV will hit the dealerships later in 2022. However, some other reports are predicting the first quarter of 2023 as a possible launch date. The SUV should be a tad cheaper than the truck, with prices beginning at $75,000.
