2023 Jeep Commander is Heading to Brazil

The new 2023 Jeep Commander is on the way. You may remember this model as a mid-size utility vehicle with three rows of seats. In case you don’t know, Jeep has already offered the Commander model in China, since 2018. That includes both the Commander PHEV and Grand Commander.

However, Jeep is not done, as the most recent reports are saying that this model is heading to South America. Reportedly, this new SUV will share the architecture with the Jeep Compass. However, its arrival in the United States is still a mystery. Anyway, here’s what we know about this model, including spy shots and interior teasers.

Jeep Commander Exterior Design

Interestingly, the new 2023 Jeep Commander has been spied in cold Scandinavia. This model won’t be sold in Europe. However, it is coming to South America, or more precisely, Brazil. The styling of the spied prototype is closer to the Jeep Compass. This comes as no surprise, as the Commander will borrow a lot of stuff from this model, including architecture.

The front fascia looks very familiar, with the same headlights. On the other hand, the grille seems to be slightly different. We also spotted new daytime running lights (DRLs) and new lower intakes. The side profile shows nice crisp lines with new wheels. As for the rear section, the taillights are very elegant, like on the Grand Cherokee model.

Interior Features

Not so long ago, Jeep released a teaser video that shows the interior of the 2023 Jeep Commander. For a start, we are surprised by the number of high-quality materials. That includes the upholstery and nice treatments on and around the dashboard. The center console seems to be new, which is a positive thing to see. The seats are wearing leather materials and it seems like the second-row seats can be folded flat.

Besides numerous USB ports, the Commander will offer an all-digital instrument cluster. More importantly, a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen is available. On the other hand, we don’t know if this unit comes as standard or as an option. The upcoming Commander and Compass will share the platform, although the Commander will offer a third-row of seats, per source.

Engine Specs

At this moment, we don’t know which engines will be on offer in the 2023 Jeep Commander. Of course, Asian and South American versions will not use the same engine lineup. A 1.3-liter engine with a 6-speed automatic transmission is the most likely outcome. Some reports are already predicting a 2.0-liter diesel engine as an option.

The diesel engine will reportedly use a 9-speed automatic transmission. As we are speaking about the South American version, diesel is a very likely outcome. The front-wheel-drive system will be standard. However, Jeep will surely provide an optional AWD setup.

2023 Jeep Commander Price, Release Date

The price of the upcoming 2023 Jeep Commander is not available yet. However, it seems like this SUV will go on sale this August, in Brazil. The Brazilian Commander will not share that much with the Asian Commander variant. Instead, we expect a model that is closer to Jeep Compass, both visually and mechanically.
