The South Korean automaker just announced the arrival of the new 2023 Kia Sorento. This vehicle is quite competitive in its class, offering nearly the same level of comfort as family crossovers such as the Ford Explorer and Toyota Highlander SUVs.
Additionally, it is visually appealing and offers one of the most beautiful cabins. In general, even the entry-level model features a well-designed cabin. However, things continue to improve as you move up the trim levels. The manufacturer provides four powerplant configurations beneath the hood. The four-cylinder, the turbo-four engine, the conventional hybrid engine, and the plug-in hybrid engine.
2023 Sorento SUV Facelift
The forthcoming 2023 Kia Sorento is about to deliver some improvements. The new model will roll on the new platform, and its chassis will have a four percent increase in tensile strength over the previous model. Additionally, the company overhauled the appearance and front fascia, which now has beautiful LED headlamps and a robust radiator grille.
The side profile is likewise appealing, and our initial impressions were of powerful lines, sleek 20-inch wheels, and curved windows. The rear fascia has also been altered, with numerous LED taillights and a concealed windshield wiper. The brand claims that the new SUV will include a wider wheelbase and increased ground clearance, making it suitable for off-roading.
Indeed, Kia will provide higher-quality materials and enhanced comfort. The new 2023 Kia Sorento, on the other hand, is not as significant as its sibling Telluride, but it remains an excellent family cruiser. In general, this vehicle falls in between a “crossover” and an “SUV.” With the rear seats folded, this SUV will have a cargo capacity of more than 12.5 cubic feet. However, when all seats are folded down, it creates more than 70 cubic feet of cargo space.
The manufacturer includes an 8-inch display as standard for infotainment, but you may upgrade to a 10.3-inch display as well. Additionally, there is a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and a slew of convenience features such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a wireless phone charging.
Four Engine Choices
The upcoming 2023 Kia Sorento is available with four different powertrains. The standard engine is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 191 horsepower and 180 lb-ft torque. Literally, you can upgrade to the turbo version of this engine, which produces 280 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. Additionally, there are two hybrid configurations.
The first is a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine with a 44-kW electric motor producing a total 226 horsepower. The Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) model is all-new and is available with a 1.6-liter inline-4 engine and a 66.9-kW electric motor. This combination produces 261 horses. Kia indicated that the PHEV model would run entirely on electricity for around 30 miles before switching to the gas engine.
