During the COVID-19 lockout, companies may ponder about upgrades and priorities. Manufacturers will now try to recover damages. The 2023 Lexus GX 460 is one of the new models coming shortly. The mid-size SUV is ancient, and fans expected a facelift sooner. Better late than never. The 2022MY will be unchanged. So, Lexus and Toyota are all in for 2023. The GX has numerous cons. It’s bigger than RX but smaller and cheaper than LX.
Both of these popular SUVs will get new features, and the GX will follow suit. The new style is about to attract more buyers for sure. However, we don’t know what will happen with the drivetrain options. The existing Lexus GX 460 engine may be retained in the 2023 model. The company is also developing hybrid and turbocharged engines. Without further ado, here’s everything you need to know.
2023 GX 460 Changes
It’s time for more significant changes. At this point, only a fresh makeover and a new generation can revive the 2023 Lexus GX 460. But it takes a lot of money and manpower to finish the project. Lexus has other priorities, such as a new LX and RX. Those are the flagship and best-selling SUVs, therefore there aren’t too many GX rumors. We can keep an eye on the Land Cruiser Prado from afar. For some solutions, we may see them on the new Lexus. The redesign will happen for sure, both in and out.
The last update was a long time ago, so everything new will be welcome. For a start, expect a more angular grille. We also expect to see a completely new front fascia and new exterior paints. The rear section will also introduce numerous upgrades and new wheels are also in the works. SUV’s dimensions won’t change but we expect to see completely new design on GX 460 model.
Like the exterior, the interior will also host a lot of updates. The cabin upgrade may provide better comfort and more technology-advanced features. The 2023 Lexus GX 460 will seat seven comfortably and the manufacturer will provide higher level of comfort as well.
Vehicle’s size won’t change so the back row is small and suited for kids only. Captain’s buckets are either standard or optional on higher trim levels. The brand is also working on the new version of the infotainment system. Beside new and more premium materials, the GX 460 will introduce more standard equipment as well.
What About Engine Specs
For a long time, the luxury SUV’s V8 was dependable. A 4.6-liter engine produces 300 horsepower and 330 lb-ft of torque. That’s not too much for a 3.5-liter V6. A V8 also uses a lot more fuel. But the 2023 Lexus GX 460 will be heavier. It also adds off-road capability, increasing the SUV’s thirst. Even with a lighter body, the new model will only get 20 mpg on highways. A locking differential in a two-speed transfer case improves traction on uneven terrain.
The company is developing a turbocharged V6. The bigger LX will need more power, but the I-Force Max engine may power the GX as well. On top of that, we think hybrid is more plausible. Toyota is also developing new hybrid setup and Lexus could largely benefit from it. Anyway, new powertrain option is a possibility for GX 460 model, but this is not official yet.
2023 Lexus GX 460 Price, Release Date
The forthcoming 2023 Lexus GX 460 will introduce significant changes so the price will be higher than ever before. Current model starts at around $55k and new one will cost slightly above that. The upper trim levels will cost $70,000 and higher. The sales will begin later next year and GX 460 SUV will rival models such as Jeep Wrangler and Ford Bronco.
