2023 Mazda CX-50 Comes in a Hybrid Form

New 2023 Mazda CX-50 is a compact crossover SUV that will enter the lineup as a companion to the current CX-5 model. The Mazda CX-5, which was refreshed for the 2022 model year and is made in Japan, will be marketed at the same plant as the new CX-50.

Furthermore, it is built on the same unibody basis as the CX-30, and all-wheel drive is standard on all trim levels. Of course, this model will go on sale in the United States, probably this summer. While we are waiting for the official debut, here’s everything you need to know about the new CX-50 model.

Mazda CX-50 Exterior Design

The new 2023 Mazda CX-50 looks like a very exciting model. For a start, this SUV will have a good off-road ability, so it is wider than the original CX-5 model. The CX-50 variant also offers 18-inch all-terrain tires, black wheel cladding, and even the roof rack. There is also a brand-new Zircon Sand exterior color. The headlights are completely new, coupled with tiny horizontal LED strips in the bumper.

The quarter glass has a new form, but the taillights will remain unchanged. It is a classic Mazda, with a recognizable styling, round wheel arches, and shorter overhangs. We like the extended wing grille because it looks very modern and innovative. The bumpers are sitting higher than before, and Mazda will also offer standard skid plates.

Interior

On the inside, the new 2023 Mazda CX-50 will offer a room for five passengers. The interior is highlighted by a large dashboard and 8.8-inch infotainment touchscreen. From what we know, this model will provide slightly less headroom than the CX-5 sibling. On the other hand, the comfort will be better and the rear passengers will have more legroom.

A 10.25-inch display will be optional, while Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, and navigation will be offered as standard. The upper trim levels are very premium, providing leather seats, a heated steering wheel, and other luxury amenities. Most likely, the CX-50 crossover SUV will offer the famous Carbon Edition, which is great to hear.

Two Engine Options

Reportedly, the new 2023 Mazda CX-50 will have two powertrain options. The base one is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 187 horsepower. There is an optional 2.5-liter turbo-four engine, producing up to 250 horsepower. Both units will arrive with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Mazda made the AWD system standard on all trim levels.

The highlight of this model, on the other hand, should be a hybrid powertrain. The CX-50 Hybrid model will arrive shortly after the base model. This variant will deploy a base 2.5-liter engine with two electric motors. Total output should be rated at 220 horsepower and Mazda will allegedly borrow a hybrid system from Toyota.
