The forthcoming 2023 Volvo XC90 is getting further upgrades. This popular SUV is known for its impressive design and nice-looking interior. Moreover, XC90 SUV comes with both plug-in hybrid and all-electric variants. We still don’t know if the conventional gasoline engine will be on offer. Anyway, the Swedish manufacturer clearly plans to build electric vehicles, exclusively.
According to the latest reports, the XC90 model will sit on a new SPA II platform as the third-gen XC90 is about to arrive. Thanks to that, we expect to see a lot of dramatic upgrades. The manufacturer is working on a unique floor configuration, new design, and improved efficiency.
Design Based on the Concept Recharge
The first renderings of the 2023 Volvo XC90 are already here. Volvo has already teased the Concept Recharge, which is the company’s flagship utility vehicle. The wagon-like design isn’t for everyone, and the little alterations brought forth by these rendering pictures are no exception. Anyway, this popular model will introduce a new generation, so we expect to see more major upgrades.
However, some styling cues and recognizable exterior elements will remain. That includes modern T-shaped LED daytime running lights. On the other hand, new headlights are looking slimmer, just like the taillights. If you want more sportiness, Volvo will once again introduce the R-Design variant.
Interior Changes
Inside, the new 2023 Volvo XC90 maintains the same level of luxury as its predecessor. This model comes standard with three rows of seats for seven passengers, with ample legroom and headroom. The third row provides a high level of comfort and is best suited for children. The basic XC90 has a synthetic leather interior, with leather available on higher trim levels.
In terms of technology, the Swedish automaker has no competitors. The XC90 comes with a plethora of standard amenities. It has a large 12.3-inch digital driver information display and a 9-inch infotainment touchscreen that is vertically oriented. We expect to see even more standard amenities this time. As always before, Volvo will provide astonishing safety ratings thanks to the brand-new LiDAR sensors.
Engine Rumors
At this moment, it is difficult to predict if a gasoline engine will be included in the offer. The upcoming 2023 Volvo XC90 may be the last model with a conventional combustion engine. Nothing is official yet, as Volvo has yet to provide full information. Because of the new architecture, we may expect hybrid and all-electric powertrain options only.
Unfortunately, exact specifications are not yet available and are very difficult to anticipate. The most significant thing, for now, is that the XC90 SUV will have at least two electric variants. Volvo officially said the XC90 SUV will feature a two-way charging system. More information will become available in the following months.
2023 Volvo XC90 Price, Release Date
The new 2023 Volvo XC90 will be priced at $50,000 or somewhat less. Upper trim levels start at $65,000 and go up from there. In terms of a launch date, the new Volvo XC90 will be available in the second half of 2022. Volvo will also introduce new XC100 model, that will slot above the XC90 variant.
