The next 2024 Acura MDX is on the way, and it will receive small upgrades only. In case you didn’t know, the 2022 MDX arrived with a redesign. It is a major upgrade for this upright SUV, so we don’t expect significant changes anytime soon. Still, Acura will deliver a couple of updates to keep things fresh. It is a very competitive SUV with so much to offer.
That includes a sharper design, a very upscale interior, and two potent powertrain options. Some rumors are suggesting a hybrid model, but it won’t happen yet. In any case, here’s what to expect from the new MDX SUV.
The styling of the 2024 Acura MDX should remain unchanged. The modern mid-size SUV has a unique appearance with sharp lines on the front fascia, a huge shield-shaped grille, and distinctive headlights. The MDX has a rear end with two exhaust outlets, a small rear spoiler, and triangle taillights that wrap around the SUV’s side.
Deep body lines and ridges may be seen on the side of the MDX, which adds to the vehicle’s modern appearance. Major changes won’t happen, but Acura plans to add more color options. This is a great thing to hear, as the MDX model already offers cool paints such as Phantom Violet Blue, Apex Blue Pearl, and Tiger Eye Pearl.
The 2024 Acura MDX should gain only minor improvements inside the cabin. With push buttons for the gearbox, a touchpad, and physical buttons for the infotainment system, this SUV is quite practical. Moreover, there is another row of controls for the HVAC system. The center console looks modern and very upright.
The infotainment screen is located in the middle of the valley-shaped dashboard. The MDX sports a lot of upright materials, and sportier models add elements of athleticism like metal pedals, big shift paddles, and larger seats. With so many trim levels and optional packages, the Acura MDX doesn’t really need a major overhaul yet.
Like the outgoing model, the next one will offer the same engine lineup. There are two powertrains to choose from. The 2024 Acura MDX offers a standard 3.5-liter V6 gas engine. This unit develops 390 horsepower and 268 lb-ft of torque. If you opt for the Type S model, you’ll get a 3.0-liter V6 engine with 355 horsepower. On top of that, this variant delivers 354 lb-ft of torque. No matter which engine you opt for, Acura offers the same 10-speed automatic transmission.
The front-wheel-drive (FWD) system is standard, while you can buy an optional all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup. The rumors are about the MDX hybrid model. However, we don’t expect that the plug-in hybrid variant will arrive so soon. In any case, the speculated hybrid model will introduce even more power and enhance fuel economy significantly.
The price of the upcoming 2024 Acura MDX will start at $50,000 once again. On the other hand, the most premium trim levels will be available for about $68,500. This modern SUV will go on sale in the summer of 2023. As before, the biggest rivals are the BMW X5, Audi Q7, and Volvo XC90.
