2021 Peugeot 2008: Design, Equipment, Price

The Peugeot 2008 is the smallest crossover SUV in the brand’s range and like larger Peugeot-badged high-riding models it goes on sale with various diesel and petrol options including also the all-electric version. The all-new, second-generation 2008 entered production in 2019 but the model reaches some markets in 2020 as the 2021 Peugeot 2008. The all-new 2008 enters Australian showrooms by the year’s end. In the markets where it is already on sale, the 2021 version returns with a limited number of modifications.

The Peugeot 2008 is stylish from outside with premium quality inside the cabin. The model delivers a balanced ride and handling backed by efficient petrol and diesel powertrains. There is also a pure-electric version to go against the Hyundai Kona EV. The Peugeot 2008 goes also on sale with modern tech and safety equipment.

With the Peugeot 2008 in its SUV range, the brand has an alternative to the model such as the Ford Puma, Skoda Kamiq, Dacia Duster, Hyundai Kona, Honda HR-V, Nissan Juke, VW T-Cross, etc.

2021 Peugeot 2008: Design

The Peugeot 2008 is a stylish and well-built, subcompact crossover SUV. Under its stylish skin, the model uses the Peugeot-Citroen Common Modular Platform that is also the base of the 208 model. This highly flexible and lightweight platform underpins also the Opel Corsa and DS 3 Crossback. The CMP small-car platform allows both combustion and all-electric powertrains.

Form the visual perspective, the 2021 Peugeot 2008 borrows heavily from the 3008 and 5008. The model has a jewel-like grille upfront joint with the modern headlights with a three-stripe LED signature and one extending to the bumper area. The smallest Peugeot SUV has also sport-style front bumper and creased hood.

Angular design continues on the model’s profile with the defined charter line and rising window line. The model has also sculpted fender flares and can be had with the contrasting paint job.

The rear has the gloss black strip across the tailgate and the same lighting signature as other brand’s SUVs.

Interior:

The cabin of the 2021 Peugeot 2008 matches the style of the 208. The model applies the brand’s iCockpit layout mixed with nice detailing and superb levels of quality. There are nice touches such as the bright contrasting pieces and stitching plus the gloss black piano keys on the dash.

The Peugeot 2008 provides also comfortable driving position and practical storage compartments. There is also enough headroom in both rows and decent rear-seat comfort. The model offers 434 liters of cargo space.

Equipment:

The Peugeot 2008 goes on sale with various material patterns and quality levels. The model can be had with the quilted leather upholstery with nice jewel-like detailing on the seats.

The 2008 comes also with digital instrumentation, large 10.0-inch touchscreen, Apple Car Play and Android Auto support, wireless charging, navigation, and premium sound system.

The safety kit includes autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, parking assist, traffic sign recognition, blind-spot monitoring and driver attention monitor.

2021 Peugeot 2008: Powertrains

The 2021 Peugeot 2008 returns to the market with a range of petrol and diesel powertrains and there is also the all-electric version.

The petrol engine range consists of a 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbocharged engine available in three states of tune. The engine makes 100, 129 and 153 hp. The peak torque is 205, 230 and 240 Nm respectively. The petrol units work in the combination with a six-speed manual transmission or eight-speed automatic unit. Two first units can be had with both transmission options while the top-power engine is in pair with the 8-speed automatic only.

The oil-burning range includes a 101-hp 1.5-liter unit with a peak torque of 250 Nm. Some markets get a 1.6-liter turbodiesel unit with different outputs including 75, 100 and 120 hp. Like the petrol range, depending on the version, a diesel-powered 2008 is available with a 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic transmission

The all-electric e-2008 version packs a 134-hp electric motor and 50 kWh battery for the 193 miles of range under the WLTP standards.

2021 Peugeot 2008: Release, Price

The 2021 Peugeot 2008 should reach showrooms by the year’s end. Peugeot hasn’t yet talked about the price and full specs. The price range should stay close to the current.
