2022 Acura MDX: Redesign, Changes, Price

Honda’s luxury division Acura brings the all-new MDX SUV for the 2022 model year. The brand revealed recently some of the new model’s features and it was also spotted in the prototype form. The fourth-generation 2022 Acura MDX comes on the new platform with reconfigured suspension and larger. Powering the new model is a V-6 engine paired with the new 10-speed automatic transmission but there will also be a high-performance Type S version powered by the turbocharged 355-hp V-6 engine.

The redesigned Acura MDX comes also with modernized styling and more comfortable cabin. The three-row cabin will also be equipped with the band’s newest technologies and safety systems. Honda’s premium brand will also pack the model with its premium comfort features.

Acura’s mid-size model is an alternative to the Volvo XC90, Cadillac XT6, Infiniti QX60 and Buick Enclave.

2022 Acura MDX: Design

The redesigned, fourth-generation 2022 Acura MDX comes on the new platform and with revised dimensions that should translate to better body control and in-cab comfort. The new underpinning is the most rigid to date combined with the reconfigured suspension with double-wishbone front setup. The new architecture is different than the one used for the recently all-new TLX.

The redesigned Acura MDX comes also with the revised dimensions and styling. The new iteration of the model rides on a 3 inches longer wheelbase and it is also wider that will also contribute to a more controlled and precise ride.

From the visual perspective, the all-new MDX is more modern and attractive. The front-end is more sculpted and it sports the brand’s newest three-dimension Diamond pentagon grille flanked by the brand’s JewelEye LED headlights. The new headlights are slimmer and with new attractive signature lighting. The front bumper is also more modern.

From the profile perspective, notable are longer nose and hood and subtly shaped door panels and fender flares. Sharp roofline and high and defined character line add also more essence to the model’s appearance.

The rear of the model features bits of the sports style and new, nicely accentuated taillights.

Interior, Equipment:

The cabin of the all-new 2022 Acura MDX is a huge step up compared to the outgoing version. The cabin is more comfortable thanks to the longer wheelbase and wider body. The new model has also a new dash covered with attractive two-tone upholstery adorned with striking accents. A similar pattern continues on the door panels, steering wheel and center console.

The new version benefits also from the improved headroom and rear-seat leg room. The model will also offer heated and cooled seats and there will also be nine massage settings. All rows will also be treated with perforated leather and contrasting stitching and piping. The seats will also have up to 16-way power functions. The model’s cabin will also be available with LED ambient lighting with 27 different lighting schemes.

Acura will also equip the newest MDX with its best tech and safety systems. The model employs Acura’s Precision Concept design. Two screens dominate the new dash both sized at 12.3 inches. The new MDX uses also wireless Apple Car Play and Android Auto. There will also be up to six USB ports. The model will also use a 25-speaker 1000-watt ELS 3D Audio system.

Every 2022 Acura MDX will rely on the brand’s Acura Watch safety suite that includes forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control. Upgrades will include Low-Speed Braking Control and Traffic jam Assist.

2022 Acura MDX: Performance

Coming with the redesigned chassis, reconfigured suspension, standard Brembo brakes and other upgrades, the all-new 2022 Acura MDX should provide better ride quality and performance. The new MDX uses a more rigid chassis and reconfigured suspension with the double-wishbone front setup and multi-link rear.

The base engine will be a 3.5-liter non-turbo V-6 unit good for 290 hp. The engine comes in pair with the new 10-speed automatic transmission. The model should be available with both front-wheel drive and super-handling all-wheel drive.

The band will also introduce the Type S version with the turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 engine under the hood. This model will be equipped with an all-wheel-drive by default. The turbo-6 engine makes 355 hp and torque of 354 lb-ft.
