2022 Subaru Forester: Refresh, Changes, Price

Subaru’s all-weather and off-road capable, compact-sized Forester crossover SUV competes in one of the most crowded SUV segments and it stands out with above-average ground clearance, standard all-wheel-drive system and a standard full complement of active safety systems. The Forrester was all-new for the 2019 model year while the 2021 version made adaptive LED headlights and automatic high beams standard. The 2022 Subaru Forester should come with more significant changes as the brand applies usually a mid-cycle refresh in the fourth year of production.

Subaru hasn’t yet talked about the 2022 Forester but several sources suggest what the brand has in mind for the fast-selling model. The compact-sized Forester should arrive with revised front-end styling and updated rear as part of the mid-cycle refresh for the fifth-generation version. The refreshed Forester should get new material patterns inside the cabin accompanied by the updated in-car technologies. A part of the refresh should also be an inclusion of the new-generation EyeSight driver-assist system.

Another significant upgraded could be the addition of the new turbocharged engine option. The model should also receive an upgraded CVT unit and a new Drive Mode Select system. Reports also indicate that the hybrid powertrain isn’t ruled out.

2022 Subaru Forester: Design

The 2022 Subaru Forester is expected to come in the refreshed form but the camouflaged prototype version hasn’t yet been caught on the roads to give us better insight into possible styling updates.

However, Subaru is known to give a mild styling update to its models in the fourth year of production and the refreshed Forester shouldn’t be an exception. The 2022 Forester should arrive with the tweaked headlights design and updated grille style. The bumper cover should also come in the tweaked form.

The profile won’t see notable upgrades while the rear should also showcase a limited number of modifications such as the updated taillights.

The Subaru Forester offers enough room for four adults in its cabin and practical 76.1 cubic feet for the cargo. With the rear seats up, there are 34.6 cubic feet for the cargo. The Forester has also comfortable and multi-adjustable seats as well as well-arranged and easy-to-use controls.

The 2022 Subaru Forester won’t come with significant in-cab changes as the reports indicate. The model should add new material patterns and upgraded tech features. 2022 Subaru Forester: Powertrain

The 2022 Subaru Forester should keep the current non-turbo 2.5-liter flat-four cylinder engine good for 182 hp and torque of 176 lb-ft. The engine should, however, come in the mix with the re-engineered continuously variable system for smoother performance over the power curve.

The Forester will return with the standard all-wheel drive but there should be a new Drive Mode Select system with five drive modes.

Reports indicate also that the next model could get a new turbo engine option. Subaru is in process of upgrading its entire fleet with the direct-injection turbocharged Boxer engines with improved fuel efficiency.

Subaru and Toyota are also working on the new hybrid technology and the refreshed Forester could also get the electrified powertrain option.

2022 Subaru Forester: Release, Price

More precise details about the 2022 Subaru Forester will appear closer to the model’s debut sometime around mid-2021. If reports about the refreshed Forester turn out to be true there should be a slight price increase across the range. The updated Forester should start at about $26, 000.
