The new 2022 Ford Explorer SUV will be available for purchase by the end of the year. It is a well-known mid-size SUV with a distinctive look and excellent performance. As you are possibly aware, the 2020 Explorer was redesigned. The 2021 Explorer was largely a carryover, so the 2022 Explorer will get a mid-cycle upgrade.
The Explorer SUV, on the other hand, will come with an all-new off-road kit as well as several other unique updates. Ford will stick with the same rear-wheel-drive architecture and the same powertrain options. According to the latest reports, Blue Oval maker will increase towing capability and handling as well.
The engine lineup for the 2022 Ford Explorer is a carryover. The base engine is a 2.3-liter turbo-four engine with 300 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. Along with the rear-wheel-drive configuration, a 10-speed automatic transmission is available. Ford also offers a hybrid variant that incorporates a 3.3-liter V6 engine with an electric motor.
This output develops 320 hp and 322 lb-ft of torque. The Platinum and ST models come with a powerful twin-turbo engine. This 3.0-liter V6 engine produces 365 horses in Platinum trim and 400 hp in the Explorer ST trim.
The interior of the 2022 Ford Explorer will receive additional updates. The next Explorer SUV would be sleeker, and it seems that Ford is looking to improve cabin comfort. As before, there will be seating for seven passengers, implying that the interior configuration will remain unchanged.
The cabin, especially the ST version, has a sportier style. The 2022MY will have the most recent safety features as well as an upgraded infotainment system. The manufacturer, on the other hand, would not have bigger screens or any major upgrades.
The upcoming 2022 Ford Explorer will be available with a new optional package. It’s an off-road Timberline package, and the first spy images have already surfaced. Interestingly, Ford trademarked the Timberline brand, and we anticipated seeing it in 2020 or 2021. In any case, Blue Oval decided to make it available now, and the Explorer SUV will have this amazing optional kit.
At this moment, we don’t know that much about this version. However, since it is an off-road kit, there will be no surprises. Timberline, like the Tremor kit, has all-terrain tires, skid plates, and a minor suspension boost. Furthermore, this SUV will look more aggressive and it will provide better departure and approach angles.
The all-new 2022 Ford Explorer’s price should remain unchanged. As a result, this famous SUV will cost $33,500. The Platinum trim level, on the other hand, costs about $55,000. In terms of pricing, the new Timberline package remains a mystery. Ford will launch its large SUV later in 2021. As before, Explorer will rival Honda Pilot, Toyota Highlander, and other mid-size SUVs.
