2022 GMC Terrain Gets New AT4 Off-Road Trim Level

The upcoming 2022 GMC Terrain will host a lot of upgrades and it will go on sale later this year. The manufacturer revealed its new model recently and we are happy to see more significant upgrades. The Terrain SUV waited for years to gain more drastic improvements. Now, we can’t wait to see the new Terrain model and its improved design. Moreover, the interior will also host numerous updates.

The engine lineup will remain, so we don’t expect to see any sort of improvement in terms of performance On the other hand, the Terrain SUV will introduce a new AT4 trim level. It isn’t a new trim level but it is the first time that the Terrain model offers one.

2022 Terrain AT4 Trim Level

The all-new 2022 GMC Terrain is getting a new trim level. It is perhaps the most exciting upgrade. We are talking about the new AT4 trim level. It is a popular version but on some other GM models. Now, the Terrain SUV is getting the same treatment. The first details are already available and we think the GMC Terrain AT4 looks very attractive.

This variant comes with an angular look, unique wheels, and a black chrome grille. Moreover, black wheels are also on offer. GM will add a front skid plate and more ground clearance. Thanks to that, the AT4 trim will be for those who are looking for off-road adventures. The regular model comes with more eye-catching exterior features and the front fascia is completely redesigned.

Interior Changes

The 2022 GMC Terrain will also gain additional updates inside the cabin. The goal is to deliver more quality materials and to modernize the interior. This SUV now comes with a higher level of comfort, thanks to the new upholstery. GM will add premium trim pieces and much more. The seating layout remains, which means there will be room for five passengers.

Some speculations are suggesting a new three-row variant, but this is unlikely to happen in the near future. Anyway, the Terrain model will get more standard equipment, a new head-up display, and the latest safety aids. As before, the Denali variant will remain the range-topping and the most luxurious trim level.

Engine Specs

As we said, the 2022 GMC Terrain won’t introduce a new engine. Instead, this popular SUV will stick to its current engine lineup. More precisely, it is a single powertrain option. A 1.5-liter turbo-four gasoline engine is on offer and it comes with a standard 9-speed automatic transmission. This powertrain option develops 170 hp and 203 lb-ft of torque.

The platform is unchanged, so Terrain remains an SUV with the standard front-wheel-drive setup. The all-wheel-drive setup is optional once again. Some rumors are predicting better fuel economy ratings, but this is not confirmed yet. At this moment, Terrain provides 25 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway.

2022 GMC Terrain Price, Release Date

Thanks to the latest updates, the new 2022 GMC Terrain will cost more than its predecessor. New price will start at around $26,500 and the Denali trim level costs over $40,000. The manufacturer will launch its updated SUV in the last quarter of 2021.
