2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class With Hybrid System Spied For the First Time

New 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class will follow the same path as the C-class sedan and it will introduce a redesign. Two models will gain a very similar facelift and the first spy photos are already available. Moreover, GLC-Class SUV is mechanically similar to the sedan model, including the 255-hp turbo-four engine. Furthermore, the SUV will offer a hybrid system and the same nine-speed automatic transmission.

The interior will host numerous updates, mostly in terms of technology. The goal is to additionally modernize the C-Class SUV, but Mercedes will also improve safety ratings and level of comfort. Definitely, luxury is guaranteed and Mercedes is about to introduce the high-performance AMG version as well.

2022 Mercedes GLC-Class Spy Shots

Visually, the upcoming 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class will introduce a lot of updates. First spy shots are showing some of them, but heavy camouflage perfectly hides most of the exterior. For a start, the images are showing a sleeker side profile with new LED headlights. The hood is more prominent, thanks to the new and sharper lines. Mercedes will also add new graphics on the taillights in the back.

Numerous experts are saying the spied prototype is still the GLC-Class in the developing stage. Thanks to that, we expect to see even more changes. As we said, the redesign is about to happen, so we are waiting for the final version. Lastly, the AMG version is also in the stage of production so if you want something sportier, this variant is the way to go.

Interior Changes

The 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class will also gain numerous interior updates. Unfortunately, spy photos aren’t showing interior details and its upgrades. As we said, the C-Class sedan will have a great impact on the GLC SUV. Because of that, the interior will host the same changes. Mercedes will introduce a larger infotainment touchscreen.

This unit is portrait-oriented and it will work with the new infotainment system. Interestingly, but this infotainment system is similar to Tesla’s infotainment, available in the new S model. New optional upholstery is a possibility, but this is just a rumor at the moment. On the other hand, Mercedes will surely introduce new driver-assistance aids so the safety will be even better now.

Mild-Hybrid Powertrain Specs

The all-new 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class will use the same powertrain as the C-Class sedan. It is a mild-hybrid powertrain that combines a 2.0-liter turbo-four engine with a 48-volt hybrid system. Mercedes opted for a smooth 9-speed automatic transmission, which is great.

The output develops 255 horsepower, but some sources are suggesting around 300 horsepower. On top of that, the GLC-Class AMG variant is reportedly in the works. However, we still don’t know which engine will the AMG model offer.

2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class Price, Release Date

The forthcoming 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class will arrive at a higher price than the outgoing model. Reportedly, this new SUV will cost around $45,000. This is a significant increase in terms of price, but Mercedes is yet to make it official. This luxury SUV will hit the markets later in 2021 and it will rival BMW X3 and Audi Q5 models.
