2023 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Gets Standard AWD System

The upcoming 2023 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is a compact SUV that will see further upgrades in the following months. For a start, the Japanese manufacturer will add a standard AWD system on all trim levels. Additionally, it will also deliver larger wheels, standard LED headlights, and much more. Generally, the redesign won’t happen.

However, the Eclipse Cross will gain more standard features and more upright materials. The styling remains bold and unique, while the interior is more than satisfying. Under the hood, expect the same 1.5-liter engine with a standard CVT transmission. The sales will begin this summer and here’s everything you need to know.

Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Facelift

After the most recent changes in 2022MY, the 2023 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross will continue with visual upgrades. The base ES trim level will continue to offer standard 16-inch alloy wheels. However, the rest of the lineup will now offer standard 18-inch rims. The black roof rails and the panoramic sunroof will be optional in the entry-level models.

Furthermore, Mitsubishi will from now on provide standard LED headlights and fog lights. The SEL trim level will come with body-colored exterior features, as before. The Eclipse Cross will ride on the same architecture as the outgoing model. Therefore, this model will remain 179 inches long. This means the Eclipse Cross SUV will be longer than Kia Seltos, but shorter than the Kia Sportage.

Interior Upgrades

The interior of the 2023 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross will get a similar amount of upgrades. And while most of the Mitsubishi vehicles are far from the segment leaders, Eclipse Cross is something completely different. Of course, it can’t compete with luxury models, but it is on par with the biggest rivals. The comfort is better thanks to the most recent upgrades of materials. Everything seems to be more upright than before.

For a compact SUV, the Eclipse Cross provides solid passenger room, while the cargo area is not so generous. Tech-wise, the Eclipse Cross will provide updated infotainment. The base trim level offers a standard 7-inch display, while upper trim levels have an 8-inch display. As before, expect features such as in-dash navigation, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Bluetooth.

What About Engine Specs?

Nothing will change under the hood of the 2023 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross model. Unfortunately, a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine remains the only engine choice. This unit is capable of developing 152 horsepower and a torque of 184 lb-ft. That’s not bad, but this compact SUV still lacks a more potent engine as an option. Even the hybrid model is not in development.

However, Mitsubishi will provide a standard all-wheel-drive system from now on. This model gets 25 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. On the other hand, the upper trim levels will provide slightly lower mileage.

2023 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Price, Release Date

The price of the forthcoming 2023 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross will start at $26,000. It is a small jump in terms of price, while the SEL trim level will cost $30,000. The sales will begin this summer, according to the most recent reports.
